Tis The Season to Give Back!

Writer: SuzanneSuzanne

As we approach the holiday season, Suzanne and her team were looking for a way to give back. We've been so blessed and we have so much to be thankful for. When we hit our big sales goal in early October, we knew that we needed to find a way to give back.

When Suzanne's friend told her about sponsoring a family at Christmastime, Suzanne knew she had to be involved. We chatted with Suzanne about why she chose this family and why giving back to her this year was so important.

Why did you want to sponsor a family this Christmas?

I feel that if God blesses us we are meant to pay it forward. I come from immigrant parents and have spent many Christmases in lack and know firsthand how that feels. No child should NOT know the magic of Christmas.

Why did you choose this family to sponsor?

My very good friend, Aisha, is heading up a division of the Christmas Angel project and she asked me to help and we are happy to do so. They sponsor families from the Fiesta Village Mobile Park right in Mesa. It was important to us that we chose a local family to sponsor.

What items have you already received?

We have received diapers, clothes, and toys already and promises of more! I am so grateful for the response! We even have a former bride bringing us "gently used" clothes which we will donate to the family as well. When you have nothing anything is something! We are overwhelmed with the response from our customers. We just announced a couple of days ago and the love and support we have already received is amazing!

Why is it important to you to give back at the holiday season?

After I sold Suzanne's Bridal Boutique I had to give up some of the charitable causes we contributed to. But Suzanne's Sewing has been so successful it's time to get back on that bandwagon. I feel as a Christian that it is important to give back not only during the holiday season but year-round, as my friends will attest to that belief. God blesses us so we can bless others, it's really quite simple. I've always believed it's a good choice to be kind.

Where can people find out more information or perhaps sponsor their own family?

The contact for the Christmas Blessing of Gifts is Melita - 805.218.2416. They can bring any gifts to Suzanne's Sewing Service. Drop off during store hours. This is a list we are particularly looking for, for the family we've sponsored:

6-Month Baby Girl clothes diapers toys

18-Month Girl clothes toy dolls diapers

14-Years-Old Twin Girls Size 12 shirts/pants Size 14 shirts/pants Makeup, writing utensils, earrings, bracelets, bath gels Harry Potter - Gryffindor or Hufflepuff

If someone drops off a donation, what do you have for them?

We have put together "goody bags" for donors and while supplies last we will give you one in exchange for a donation! Please drop off the items to Suzanne's Sewing Service before December 11th in order to be delivered on time!
