Custom changes and build-ups are sometimes the key to making your dress the perfect one for your wedding day. Suzanne has been doing customizations on bridal gowns for over 40 years and there isn't any challenge she doesn't take on head first. Keep reading to hear about SSS Bride Mackenzie and how Suzanne was able to give her the flawless fit she was looking for!
Mackenzie couldn't wait to marry the love of her life, Taylor, but first she needed to find the dress of her dreams!
Mackenzie shopped in St. Louis, MO and found her dress at Savvy Bridal St. Louis. The only stressful part was that she wanted a few changes made to her dress to make it her perfect gown and she was moving to the Phoenix area. Luckily, Bryghtyn was her stylist at Savvy Bridal and Bryghtyn knows that Suzanne is the best seamstress there is! Bryghtyn was a stylist for Suzanne when she owned her bridal shop and recently moved to St. Louis from Arizona, so she knew how to help Mackenzie!
During her appointment for her gown, Bryghtyn talked her through the options she would have and showed her sleeves to add on to the dress. Mackenzie trusted the vision and said yes to the dress!
Mackenzie bought her dress off the rack, meaning she took the sample dress as is from the store and flew with it and her sleeves to Phoenix.
This is a great reminder for brides to trust the process and ask your bridal stylist to try to help you visualize the changes they are suggesting in alterations as closely as they can!
Suzanne did all of the basic alterations for Mackenzie's gown including a hem, bust darts, a bustle, and more. In addition, she did the custom changes of building up the back too include illusion and boning and buttons in the back with a glam feature of the beading to match the rest of the gown. You can see the during photos of the process below.
When doing custom changes like this, most brides will visit the shop more than the average three times. There is more time taken in custom build ups especially with hand beading and moving any lace. This back added a modern, glam twist to the back of the gown by adding the corset look and keeping the beading cohesive throughout the gown.
Mackenzie and her partner Taylor looked absolutely STUNNING on their wedding day! We are so happy to have been a part of creating Mackenzie's dream dress! This album was quite possibly one of the most difficult to pick photos to share from because they are all so beautiful. Enjoy these photos of Mrs. and Mrs. W. Congratulations!
