Alteration Tips to Keep in Mind If You Plan to Lose Weight.

Let's start by saying that we know this can be a tricky topic. There's no rule that says that just because you are a bride you have to plan to lose weight. Lots of weight loss companies market to brides and we are just here to say, that you don't have to lose weight to walk down the aisle.

I know that many brides want to lose some weight or tone up before the big day. There are lots of healthy and unhealthy ways to do that, and we won't get into all of that here.

But if you are planning to or hoping to lose weight here are some considerations to make as you gown shop.

Gowns that are easier to alter: - flowy gowns

- gowns that have a bit of pouf to them or full skirts

- gowns with less detail on the top - simple lace or no beading

- gowns with corset backs

Gowns that are more difficult to alter: - sheer bodices

- fitted gowns

- illusion neckline or back

- gowns with lots of beading on them

Now, we're not saying you can't buy a gown with those details on them. We have done some crazy alterations in terms of changing sizes drastically. Just know that if you chose a gown with more details or a more fitted style, you'll likely spend more on your alterations if you do lose a lot of weight.

Whether you plan to lose weight or not, we're here for you every step of the way through your alteration process. Book your first fitting today: www.suzannessewingservice.com/appointments
