A custom wedding dress isn’t just something you wear—it’s a meaningful reflection of who you are, crafted with care to make you feel your absolute best on one of the most important days of your life. While Suzanne of Suzanne’s Sewing Service doesn’t typically take on custom gowns, there are a few very special exceptions—like Kimber, the daughter of a past bride Suzanne will never forget.
Back in 1993, Suzanne designed and sewed a wedding gown for Jennifer, Kimber’s mother. When Kimber began her own gown search decades later, she tried on dress after dress hoping to find the one—but nothing felt quite right. That’s when she turned to someone she trusted deeply.
Kimber brought her inspiration to Suzanne, and the design process began—starting with a simple sketch to capture the style, shape, and feeling Kimber envisioned. Once they landed on the design, Suzanne began sewing.
The first step? Crafting and fitting the bodice, without lace or the skirt, to make sure everything sat just right.
Once the structure was approved, Suzanne carefully attached the skirt and started placing each piece of lace by hand, pinning them one by one before sewing them onto the gown with precision and love.
Finally, a bow was added to the back—a finishing touch that made the dress feel uniquely Kimber’s.
The result was stunning. Kimber’s gown was soft, elegant, and unforgettable—everything she had hoped for and more. And to make the day even sweeter, Suzanne didn’t just make the dress—she also served as a flower lady at Kimber’s wedding, adding a personal touch to an already meaningful celebration.
Though Suzanne doesn’t offer custom gowns as part of her regular services, she treasures moments like these—opportunities to support brides who are especially close to her heart and showcase what’s possible with true craftsmanship.
