If you've come to our store for a fitting, visited our old bridal store, Suzanne's Bridal then you've likely met Sydney. She keeps Suzanne's Sewing Service organized and works with our customers. She's always smiling and helping our customers feel right at home in our store. So today, we're giving you a chance to get to know her a bit more.
How long have you worked for Suzanne?
I will have worked for Suzanne for 5 years this November! I worked with her when she owned Suzanne's Bridal and I moved with her when she sold the bridal store and opened up the Suzanne's Sewing Service.
What's your role at Suzanne's Sewing?
I am her Assistant Manager. Which means I get to help Suzanne in the business in all the ways! Here are a few things I do in the alterations store:
-Dressing the brides for fittings/final fittings
-Occasional assistance with cleaning Suz's line for alterations
-Pressing/steaming the dresses
-Paperwork/receptionist work
-Helping keep the shop clean and sanitized
-Assisting Suzanne in whatever other ways she needs
What made you want to work in the bridal industry?
I have always been a ridiculously hopeless romantic (like get teary-eyes when the couple finally has their moments in the movie). 😂 So, because of my love for the romantics, I wanted to help be a part of their journey for love/important day somehow. I loved working with Suzanne at the bridal store and I ended up falling in love with the industry! When she opened the alterations store, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
What's your favourite part of your job?
I love hearing the brides talk about their fiance! Hearing their love stories always makes my heart melt! And also being able to see their dress transform from start to finish! So often when brides see their gowns actually fitting them, they fall in love with it all over again.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
I am actually a licensed Esthetician, so when I am not working at SSS, I own my own business, Bellage Beauty, and I do skincare services for my clients!
What's your personal favourite part of a wedding day?
When the dad (or parent) walks the bride down the aisle! The love is always so immense in that moment and you can just feel all of the love!
