One of the most common things we heard when owning the bridal store was brides who wanted to lose some weight before their wedding. It's natural to want to look your best on your special day, and in our society, as women, we've learned that the best is our thinnest version of ourselves.
#1: Your fiancé proposed to you now. Not when you lose 15 pounds. You are beautiful the way you are, not when you get to a certain size. Buy a gown that makes you feel confident & beautiful right now. And don't buy into societal pressures that you have to look a certain way to feel a certain way.
#2: Don't push your first fitting just because you want to lose weight. We need at least 12 weeks to do bridal alterations. So book your first fitting in. We charge you for alterations, like taking in the side seams. And that doesn't matter how many times we have to do it, or whether we take in a half an inch or two inches. It may change the amount of alterations we have to do. And that could incur extra charges, but fluctuating weight is something that we are well prepared to handle! Just communicate with us and we'll walk you through the rest of the process.
#3: Planning a wedding is stressful. And most brides don't know how they will handle that stress until they are in the midst of planning. Don't add the extra stress of having to lose a few pounds to already long list of things you have to do. Enjoy the process of wedding planning as much as you can.
